Big Boy Bed....Night One

Day 248/365 Tonight was O's first night in a big boy bed! (Josh is still working on the bunk beds so we will use the floor until they're done) I knew that this wasn't going to be as easy as it was with Grace. She never got out of bed in the beginning and never cried. I knew he would get out of bed and I was pretty sure he would cry. But I was ready. It started out really good! He and G loved the new mattress...great for jumping!! He loved it all the way until he realized he had to sleep in it. Alone. Daddy read to him, said his prayers and then we cut out the light. He. Was. Terrified. 

We felt pretty bad for him...we certainly don't want him to be scared...so Daddy read to him again to help calm him down. 

We decided to let his sister sleep with him since she really wanted to anyway and we thought the company the first night might help. He was still so unsure and wanted to cry so bad but G held his hand and talked to him...telling him he didn't have to be scared, which helped..

but the silliness that came soon after really helped! 

After the lights went out I heard her singing one of her favorite songs to him.. "Goodnight...Goodnight...let's go to sleep, goodnight...I'll kiss your cheek..and you will sleep..now close your eyes, goodnight..." (sometimes I don't think she could get any sweeter)

 I also heard her trying to get him to stay in bed...not saying it worked...but it was a sweet try. ;) 

Eventually they were having a "fight" over the door. O wanted it shut and G wanted it open. O would get out of bed to close the door and G would be right behind him to open it back up...which made him cry. I had already told G that if she couldn't stay in bed that she would have to go back to her bed...so...off she went back to her bed. O cried for just a minute after that but went to sleep shortly after! Honestly it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Praying it will only get better!

Rainy Day Fun

Day 245/365 I remember playing in the puddles in the ditch when I was a kid and I remember having a blast with my brothers while doing it! We may have only done it once but I remember and I have always wanted my kids to do this too! Yesterday we had the perfect opportunity! It had been storming earlier in the day (so much so that Daddy had to work until 10:00pm...power company) but after supper I realized that it hadn't thundered in a while but was still slightly raining. I took the kiddos outside to check it out and it was perfect. I took O's shoes off and both G and O took off for the puddles! They would both laugh and laugh...at nothing...they were just having a blast...and it made me smile..a lot. We played outside for at least an hour before heading in to take baths and get ready for bed. They really seemed to have as much fun as I hoped they would. :) :)

Day 148/365 She would have rather let me take unlimited pictures, than lay down for her nap today....so I took her up on that for a while. :)

Day 147/365 while we spent the day packing, she was so content to play with her people...who's names are Little Girl and Mary (because she looks like the Mary from the nativity scene that my parents have..or at least she thinks she does.) ;)

Day 140/365 so..apparently we have stickers in our yard this year...and little G found them. :/ After we had already gotten them out, she kept checking her feet.

Day 138/365 we all worked until near midnight to finish up the rest of the painting before we left the next morning. I've never loved to paint...so I was very very glad when we were done. There may have been dancing.

Day 135/365 after about 9 hours of driving, (taking our time) we finally made it and were ready to get to work! :)

Day 134/365 They always like to play with their Daddy's old toys. :) We got to spend the night with Nana right before we (Josh and I) headed to GA to get some painting and cleaning done in our new place! It was extra hard to leave them this time..O wasn't feeling his best and I knew I wouldn't get to see them again for about 5 days! We are so thankful for parents that were willing to take such good care of them so that we could be more productive while we were gone. :)
